Spider Web Açaí Smoothie Bowls and Ghost Açaí Popsicles. Perfect for Halloween.

6-10 POPSICLES & 2 BOWLS

JUMP TO RECIPE

How adorable are these Spider Web Açaí Bowl & Ghost Açaí Popsicles!?

My kids had a blast putting these Halloween-inspired items together and if you are looking for some fun, kid-friendly festive recipes then you’ve got to try these.

Do you enjoy Açaí as much as my family does? Both of my kids go nuts for Açaí smoothie bowls and I like coming up with creative recipes using it. Since Halloween is just on the horizon, I knew these Spider Açaí Bowls & Ghost (or Mummy!) Açaí popsicles would be a huge hit.

Here’s how to make them:

Spider Web on a Açaí Bowl

Ingredients for Spider Web Açaí Bowl

  • 2 packets Sambazon Açaí Packs (unsweetened)
  • 1 cup milk of choice
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa or cacao powder
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter
  • ½ cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 large ripe banana, frozen and sliced into chunks

For the spider web topping, you’ll need yogurt of choice, raisins, purple grapes and uncooked spaghetti noodles.

Smoothie Ingredients for an Açaí Bowl

How to Make the Spider Web Açaí Bowl

  1. Make the Açaí BowlStart by placing all of the ingredients in a blender and pureeing until creamy and smooth. You may need to stop the blender and scrape down the sides, depending on the power of your blender.
  2. Divide into bowlsDivide the contents of the blender into two bowls. Now it’s time to make your spiders!
  3. Make the Grape SpidersThread 2-3 raisins onto an uncooked spaghetti noodle, then break the noodle at the end. Push into a purple grape to make the legs, then repeat with the rest of the legs. While we all know that spiders have 8 legs, it may make more sense to do 4-6 legs depending on the size of your grape!
  4. Make the Yogurt Spider WebUsing either an icing bag, squeeze bottle or your spoon (or placing the yogurt into a small bag, then cutting the tip off to make a DIY icing bag), pipe the spider web onto the smoothie bowl. Place the spider on top!

Ingredients for the Ghost (or Mummy) Popsicles

  • 1 pack SAMBAZON Açaí Packs (original)
  • ½ cup 100% apple juice
  • ½ cup frozen raspberries
  • ½ cup frozen pineapple
  • 6 ounces white chocolate (or vegan white chocolate, for dairy-free option)
  • Candy eyes, for topping

You’ll also need your favorite popsicle mold. Since I’m making these for kids, I prefer a smaller mold like this one, but any will work. A mini mold like this will make 10-12 popsicles; a larger mold will make less.

Ghost Açaí Popsicle Blends in Molds

How to make the Ghost Açaí Popsicles

Start by placing the SAMBAZON Açaí packs, apple juice, raspberries and pineapple in the base of a blender and puree until creamy and smooth. Portion the Açaí blend into your prepared popsicle mold and freeze until hardened.

When ready to make, melt the white chocolate. You can do this using a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stopping and starting each time to stir. If you have a hard time melting the chocolate, adding in a small amount (1/2-1 teaspoon) of coconut oil at a time can help.

To make the Ghost Açaí Popsicles, dip the entire popsicle into the white chocolate, then place on a parchment-lined plate or baking sheet and quickly add the candy eyes. Repeat with the rest of the popsicles. If making the Mummy version, drizzle the white chocolate onto the popsicles, then quickly add the candy eyes before the chocolate hardens.

Note that the white chocolate will stick better on the Ghost option than the Mummy.

Health Benefits of Açaí

If you aren’t familiar with Açaí berries, they are native to the Amazon region and pack quite a nutritious punch. Compared to other fruits, Açaí berries are high in healthy omega-fatty acids and lower in naturally occurring sugar. The deep purple color comes from antioxidant anthocyanin. Both animal models and human clinical trials show that anthocyanins have antioxidative and antimicrobial activities and protect against chronic disease, including cardiovascular disease.

As fresh Açaí berries aren’t able to be shipped, they are sold instead as a frozen fruit puree—like  Açaí packs. This makes it easy to add to your favorite recipe—just open the packet, blend and enjoy.

Açaí is unique as it’s one of the most versatile fruits in the world. It goes well with almost anything so you could add your family’s favorite ingredients—from nut butter, leafy greens, nuts/seeds, protein powders and more. I personally think that when Açaí is combined with almond butter—it tastes like chocolate!
